Variant is a multidisciplinary design studio based in London and Riga. The studio practices contemporary design, architecture and installation with high added value to each project, whether emotional or purely functional. Innovative  experimentation across materials, technology and production are key drivers for the newly established design studio.
The studio’s cofounders, Arthur Analts and Rudolph Strelis have been working side by side since 2007, when they met during design school entrance examinations. Awarded as ‘The Best New Designer’ in Latvia, Arthur moved to London to continue his studies at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, while Rudolph mastered his knowledge in scenography and industrial design at Latvian Academy of Arts. Their contemporary approach to design, architecture and interactive installations is the byproduct of an ongoing commitment to innovation and quality.

Variant Studio principles are based on strong research and unique experiments with materials and their potential, which lead to innovative design solutions and strong emotional presence. Both Arthur and Rudolph take part in every step of the project, starting from research and brainstorming to product development, manufacturing and quality control.

Our clients are from sectors such as furniture/production, arts/culture, fashion/lifestyle, science/technology, innovation/sustainability, as well as people who have interest in collaboration and passion in innovation.

Yet newly founded, the studio is very ambitious, with work appearing in major international and local magazines and publications. Variant Studio is aiming to be a name to watch for in both Western and Eastern design.

Variant Studio is currently working on several projects, including competitions and self-initiated designs.
